2. Why do you use coconut wax?

We love that it burns cleaner - and better yet - for a longer period of time than paraffin. Our natural wax candles are better for the environment and your health. Compared to paraffin wax, ours are non-toxic, burn cleaner, and produce as much as 90% less soot than paraffin wax. This soot can darken walls, ceilings, and furniture, contaminate the ventilation ductwork in your home, and most importantly, add toxic carcinogens into the air that you breathe!

3. Is it really necessary to trim my wicks before burning?

Yes! Always trim your wick 1/8-1/4 of an inch prior to burning. Trimming your burned wicks before lighting them again helps to control the height of your flame and allows your candle to burn more evenly. Failure to do so can result in your candles burning too quickly or even worse, become a potential fire hazard!

4. How long can I burn my candle for?

Our candles have a long burn time of over 40 hours! However it is not recommended to burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time. If you burn a candle for too long, carbon can collect on the wick and make it unstable. This can lead to a dangerously large flame, smoke and soot.

Always allow the melt pool to reach the edges of the jars before extinguishing. This will allow the candle to burn evenly and prevent "tunneling." Be sure never to leave a candle unattended or in reach of children, pets or a draft. Allow the jar to cool completely before handling.

5. How do I put my candle out?

To extinguish your candle, blow a gentle puff of air towards the flames or simply place the lid back on the top of the jar and it will smother the flames.

6. Oh No! My candle looks like cottage cheese. Is there something wrong with it?

The short answer is no. In fact, this phenomenon is actually an indication that you are burning a natural wax candle. Here's what is happening: The wax melts and releases fragrance when your candle flame is lit. The melt pool cools and solidifies slowly. There is some variation in the rate at which the individual wax molecules solidify based on factors like distance from the glass. That inconsistency is what causes the rough appearance that you see.
